Opening in de Van Gogh Galerie: "Flora Bradwell"
Bradwell heeft in april gewerkt in het gastatelier van het Van GoghHuis. De resultaten daarvan presenteert zij tot eind mei in de Van GoghGalerie.
De Engelse kunstenaar Flora Bradwell heeft een reeks grote doeken geschilderd waarop bomen en gebouwen in Zundert figureren: ‘Arms Around You in A Warm Embrace was my grandmother’s familiar and theatrical sign off. It feels a fitting title for the series of large sculptural paintings I have made in Zundert. A playful response to Van Gogh’s enthralment to trees, I started my time here thinking about tree huggers, tree lovers and trees coming to life.

This tension between the natural and built environments reflected the conflict I felt as an artist mother on a residency with her baby. I hope the bristling arms, bulging floral lips and helter skelter paterns reflect the fun I have had in this delicious studio.’
